Well I guess it's about time!
After about a year or so of promising all this cool stuff, I have finally decided to do something with this site. I thought about doing some elaborate, techno-weenie, artsy-fartsy self promotion site and just decided that's too much bloody work. Simplicity in and of itself is an art form, so while I may show some examples of how to do elaborate, techno-weenie, artsy-fartsy stuff, I am going to keep this site to simple self promotion. We'll keep the visual masturbation to a minimum.
My name is Jesse Parent. I am a nerd/jock/domestic/thespian/punk/professional/your-label-here kind of a guy. I have a lot of interests but that doesn't necessarily make me interesting. I got my nickname, Jesster, in middle school from a guy named Todd Casilli, who is a pretty cool guy who's now in a pretty cool band.
Feel free to peruse my site and walk into my life for a bit. I have always found it interesting how much of oneself a person is willing to divulge on a Web site. It is both an exercise in exhibitionism and a tribute to voyeurism (why else would you bother to look). Someone really ought to write a book, don't you think?
I'll probably put this some other place when I get time, but right now I am gushing. Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite authors, actually took a few minutes to talk to me after his recent reading at the Salt Lake City library and took a picture with me. I have to say, it was worth the wait to meet him. He was patient and gracious and just overall friendly and kind. It's nice when someone actually lives up to their hype. I wanted to meet him for such a long time, and now that I have I am glad that I did. It was not a dissappointment.
